glock difference chart

glock difference chart

Glock Difference Chart - Glocks are all Spartan guns as one model can easily be mistaken for another, but there are subtle and significant differences between generations.

After going over the basics in Part 1, we can now move on to the specifics: sizes, categories, and which models fit into them.

Glock Difference Chart

Glock Difference Chart

Glock pistols are identified by their generation and model number and are further classified by size, which includes how they fit into the following categories: Standard, Compact, Subcompact, Slimline, Competition, Longslide, and Crossover.

Glock Downloadable Materials

Standards Glocks are full-size pistols designed for home and defense use. Barrel length is 4.49 inches and 4.61 inches depending on caliber. Standard-sized Glocks are some of the best-selling pistols and strike the right balance between size, weight, and control.

Compact is a relative term. These Glocks are still somewhat large with a barrel length of 4.02 inches and a grip that fills your hand. A slightly shorter grip and barrel length make them easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry while maintaining control of the weapon. That being said, this is the most popular Glock size category.

Subcompact Glocks are designed for concealed carry and back up weapons. These guns feature extremely short frames, and barrel lengths range from 3.43 inches to 3.78 inches, depending on caliber. These guns are easy to carry and conceal however you want.

These little beauties are made to hide. Glock pistol designs are highly concealable, accurate and comfortable for all shooters regardless of hand size. Its frame features an integrated beaver tail, a textured grip for easy control, and the magazine catch is reversible.

What Gen Is My Glock

Larger than full size, we are talking about guns that are designed primarily for competition shooting. They have standard sized frames but longer slides and barrels. A longer slide and barrel provide a longer sight radius and higher velocity, as well as less recoil and muzzle flip.

Crossover Glocks are a combination of full size grips with a compact slide. The design was initially developed for the Army's MHS competition, but has now become popular in civilian circles as well. Glock also considers the G43X a crossover, but it's also the same stack, so Glock sizes remain controversial.

Don't worry, we know you still have questions, so we'll break down which models fit into each of these categories to make it easier.

So which models are in which category? Now this is where people get really confused... and for good reason!

Just when you think you've got it right, there are also some Glock models that are not (and cannot be) included in the chart above. Not available to the public, made for law enforcement or completely automatic, are:

Glock has developed its guns, allowing them to fluctuate with market trends and consumer opinion. While Glock, like most firearms companies, is a slow moving beast, once they make the switch it is guaranteed to impress and stand the test of time.

For those of us who like guns and haven't been living under a rock for the past 3 decades, the name Glock has become a household word in the shooting universe. People who have never carried a handgun (let alone a Glock) recognize the name. An estimated 65% of US law enforcement agencies use some form of Glock or another. Now is the time to dive deeper into everything you need to know about the Glock 9mm and its various models. We will see:

Glock Difference Chart

The history of the Glock is quite remarkable in that the man who designed the gun knew nothing about pistol design. Gaston Gluck sold curtain rods and knives to the Austrian army and was familiar with injection molded parts. His team designed the Model 17 pistol to help the Austrian army in need of a new weapon, and a firearms legend was born. Interestingly, the "17" represents the 17th patent issued to the Glock Corporation, and this numbering system continues to this day.

Shooters tend to be either Glock fans or detractors; there is not much middle ground. I'm one of those rare birds who is right in the middle of my opinion of Gaston's prodigy. I had a model 30 .45 ACP for a while and had a spare barrel for it so I could shoot my handloads of cast bullets. He did a good job without being too pretentious. Gun eye candy it was not. I called Glocks the Chevy Impala of the handgun industry in another article I wrote. The Impala is a good mid-priced car that's a popular choice among car buyers: reliable and well-designed without being too pretentious.

The Glock, like the Impala, gets the job done serviceably. It gets the job done without costing an arm and a leg. And they are very reliable. All the law enforcement agencies that are buying the Glock system are great proof of that.

Narrowing it down a bit, let's look at Glock's best sellers. In terms of caliber, the 9mm rules the roost for the Glock. And, of the more than fifty pistol models that Glock sells, its best-selling 9mm model is the 19. This compact pistol packs 15+ 1 rounds into a small package. I know many people who carry this model, as it seems to strike the perfect middle ground between concealable size and capacity. Now, if that's not for you, you have 19 more awesome Glock 9mm models to choose from.

Charts Show Key Role Firearms Makers Play In America's Gun Culture

I've put together a chart comparing the specs of the most popular models, as well as an expanded version comparing all the bases, for all the detail-oriented shooters out there. Of course, some of these models are rare in gun shops because they have a specific purpose (example: long-range competition, which the Model 34 excels at). So before we dig into all the numbers on the chart, let's look at the most popular Glock 9mms in some detail.

This is a condensed list. Are you a numbers man? Here are the extended versions of all the available 9mm Glocks, and you can click the headers to sort them (best viewed on a desktop PC or tablet):

Now, let's look at the individual models, but first a little explanation is necessary. If you look at the table above, you will see "MOS" and "FS" listed after some models. MOS stands for Modular Optical System. Glock modified the frame of these guns by adding a slot in front of the rear sight to accept a red dot or other sight mounting plate. It is covered with padding when not in use.

Glock Difference Chart

FS means the guns have front rifling (slides). Guns marked FS have serrations on the front of the slide to aid in carriage handling, in addition to the standard rear serrations. Many shooters have asked Glock to add a front serration to all of their new guns. So far they have only applied them to weapons marked FS.

Compact Glocks: The Most Popular Ones On The Market Today

An explanation of the Glock generations is in order if we want this article to be as useful as possible for those of you who are considering purchasing a Glock. A "generation" in Glock terminology corresponds to other companies coming out with "Mod 2", "2.0", etc. This essentially means a major change in the characteristics of your weapons. Feature changes (commonly called updates) can be several small ones, a few major "major" ones, or a combination of both to qualify as the next generation. So here we go from the original Glock (now called the Gen1) to the newest generation, the Gen5, as of this writing.

This is a real and simple Glock 17 model. We can identify this weapon by its relative lack or texture and finger grooves on its frame. This is the Glock that originally equipped the Austrian Army when they had one

For those of us who have carried handguns and haven't been living under a rock for the last three decades, the Glock name has become a household word in the shooting world. People who have probably never handled a gun (with the exception of Glock) know the name. It is estimated that 65% of police agencies in the U.S. they use one type of Glock or another. It's time to dive deeper into everything you need to know about the Glock 9mm and its variants. We will see:

The story of the Glock is amazing considering that the man who designed the gun knew nothing about gun design. Gaston Glock sold batons and knives to the Austrian army, and he was well versed in injection molding. His team developed the Model 17 rifle to help the Austrian army in need of new weapons, and the legend of the rifle was born. Gunners tend to be Glock fans or detractors - there's no in between there. It is one of those rare birds that is at the center of my mind about Gaston's wunderkind. I had a Model 30 .45 ACP for a long time and had a commercial barrel to shoot my weapons. It worked well without showing too much. Gun soap was not. I mentioned Glocks in an article I wrote on the Chevy Impala of the gun industry. The Impala is a good, mid-priced car that's a good choice for car buyers - reliable and well-designed without being too flashy.

The Glock, like the Impala, does the job effectively. It works without costing an arm and a leg. And, they tend to be very loyal. All the police agencies that buy Glock machines are good proof of this.

To narrow it down a bit, let's take a look at the best Glock sellers. In terms of caliber, the 9mm dominates the Glock lineup. And, of the more than fifty types of pistols sold by Glock, the best seller is the 9mm Model 19. This small pistol packs 15 + 1 rounds into a small package. I know many people who drive this model, because they seem to strike a balance between subtle size and power. If that's not for you then you have 19 original 9mm Glock models to choose from.

Best 9mm Glocks [ultimate Models Guide]

I've included a chart that compares the specs of the most popular models and a larger model so you can compare all twenty, for all you detail shooters out there. In fact, some of these models are rare in gun shops because they tend to serve a different purpose (eg: long-range competition, which the Model 34 wins). So, before we get all the numbers off the chart, let's take a closer look at the most popular Glock 9mms.

It's a short list. Are you a numbers person? Here is a larger version of all the 9mm Glocks available and you can click on the title to select them (Table looks best on PC or Tablet):

Now, let's look at the examples individually, but before that, a little explanation is needed. If you look at the table above, you will see "MOS" and "FS" listed after the other models. MOS stands for Modular Optic System. Glock modified the frames of these pistols by drilling out the rear sight to accept a red dot or other sight plate. These are covered with filler when not in use.

Glock Differences

FS means that the rifle includes Front (slide) Serrations. Rifles marked FS have lugs on the front of the slide for better control, in addition to the rear sight. Many shooters asked Glock to include it in their new pistols. So far they have only used guns marked FS.

The Glock 44: Glock's First Rimfire Pistol (we Have Questions)

An explanation of the generations of Glock is in order, if we want to make this article as useful as possible for those who are thinking of buying a Glock. "Generation" in Glock terminology is similar to other companies from "Mod 2", "2.0", etc. In fact, it describes a major change in their equipment. Design changes (often referred to as upgrades) can be minor, less "major" that are necessary, or a combination of both to qualify for the next generation. So, here we go, from the original Glock (now called Gen1) to the newest generation as we write, Gen5.

This is the original, bare-bones Glock Model 17. We can identify this gun by its lack of dents or scratches on the frame and no fingerprints. This is the Glock that first equipped the Austrian military when they ordered 25,000 pistols in 1983. Here are some interesting facts: In addition to the Model 17 pistols that were sold to the military were Model 18s - the Model 17 is a select-fire. . power shot between 1100-1300 RPM. Glock also offered a superior version of this pistol (Model 18C). The engineer was a machine gunner and as such, he was following the laws and charges against machine guns as the people found out if they tried to buy one.

They gave the Model 22 RTF2 (.40 S&W) a solid, hand-made slide with fish-shaped serrations and tested a new round in 2009. Other models and RTF2 products include 31, 32, 23, 21. , and 19. -years old. native, although not all had gill-like tongues.

Starting with the Model 17, we see a fuller frame and a longer barrel than the smaller models. This gun was the first Glock to go public. This was mainly taken by the Austrian army and other police since 1982. I remember when the gun came out - the first "plastic gun" in the world (H & K VP70 was technically the first polymer gun, produced in 1970. for the German market).

Glock Makes Military Grade Pistol Available To Civilians

Gun opponents were determined that this "plastic gun" would not be detected by airport metal detectors, and some of the shooters thought the gun would fail because of those concerns. There was nothing to worry about - it didn't happen. In fact, the reliability and design of this gun has not only made it popular with the military and police but also with civilians. On average, a gun has only 35 parts... in short! My brother has a Gen 4 Model 17 that he loves. I shot it and was impressed. Because of its size, the 17 is not designed to be hidden. I am very much at home in a Level 3 Retention police holster, or in a tactical bag on the leg of an SOE military operation.

The Model 17 comes in Gen 3, 4 and 5 models. So if you like fingerprint scanners (or not), you're in luck - just buy the generation that has what you need. Looking for a competition rifle? Take a Gen4 or Gen5 MOS and see the red dots there. Looking for a plain-jane player everywhere? Get the Gen3 and save money (if you still get it). The Model 17, as mentioned above, started it all.

Well... let's look at the smaller 9mm. Being Glock's best-selling model, the Model 19 has its share of outdoor enthusiasts. Also, let's not forget about previous companies. The Model 19 probably has three more parts available than any other Glock. That said, the Model 19 is perfect for IWB- or OWB concealed carry with its 4-inch barrel, narrow one and a quarter inches, and 15 rounds in the magazine. As I've written before, this gun is a brand new 9mms compact to be judged.

Glock Differences

I know several people who carry a Model 19 and love it. It's no surprise that Glock chose to release the Model 17 and Model 19 before the Gen5 update. The 17, and follow the following rules, and the Model 19, which is better to sell Glock.

What Are The Differences Among The Glock Generations?

The Gen5 Model 19 was widely accepted. The only complaint I've heard about the Gen5 Model 19 has to do with the link on the front of the frame. Some shooters report that they injure their hand, because they are in the area where the heel of their hand meets the palm of the frame. They say anger is what causes problems. This does not appear to be a problem on the Model 17 due to its long profile. Fortunately, they addressed this issue in the new Model 45 (below).

Like example 17, there are many different types available

To disassemble a Glock pistol, you must safely disassemble it and then remove the slide and barrel. First you need to point the gun in a safe direction and release the magazine. Pull it up and lock the slide so you can check the chamber for any remaining ammo. Next, you need to close the slide and fire once in a safe direction to release the firing pin. After that, open the slide a little and pull down on both sides of the slide lock. Once the lock is in place, you can push the slide forward to separate it from the gun. You also have to push the spring forward out of the gun and pull the barrel out. Once this part of the gun is removed, you can clean the Glock before reassembling. Remember to wear safety glasses when working with the gun in case of an accident. For tips on how to put the slide back when you reassemble the gun, read on! I was originally going to make this a joke guide for April Fools because let's be honest...who doesn't know how to shoot two Glocks? Whether you think they're "Perfection™," a durable utilitarian tool that gets the job done, or an ugly wall of plastic wonder-nine that'll never come close, Glock pistols are everywhere. What the Glock lacks in aesthetic appeal, it makes up for in simplicity, low part count, and ease of tuning. After all, there aren't many pistols out there that can do a $10 trigger job quite like a Glock. Instead of just making the shortest disassembly guide in history, let's discuss the history of Glock and some tuning tips to spice it up!

There are many, many complete histories of Gaston Glock and his pistols written by people who know more than I do. The whole history of Glock is colorful to say the least and full of misconceptions, so I really recommend anyone who hasn't read to do some digging! Glock himself is an interesting man, although he is not responsible for the design of the gun, and instead the target of a failed conspiracy to defeat him and take over the company. Instead of diving into the intrigue and politics, I'll just summarize Glock's development timeline and major generational changes.

How To Install Or Replace A Polymer80 Or Glock's Firing Pin Spring Assembly

Generation 1: The first generation of Glocks debuted with the famous Model 17 and quickly became popular with video games and movies with the choice of fire variant, the Model 18. Early Glocks did not have the grip texture or finger grooves of later models and there were no Rails on the frame for lights or accessories. The top of the grip also lacks the thumb rest on later models, but this is a more subtle difference. Internally, the first generation gun will remain unchanged for three generations, except for the addition of reinforcement pins in the locking block, making it the earliest "two-pin" gun when revised to "three-pin". The frame rail molded into the frame was shorter on the first gen pistols than the newer models (which led to immediate changes due to mechanical problems) and early models were sold without the recoil spring assembly. Early Glock mags were not free and contained only a partial layer of metal for reinforcement.

"Gen 1" Glock 19: While there was no official Generation 1 Glock 19, a few were produced by Glock to submit to the ATF for approval in 1987. barrel, and no real test example is not really known from what I could dig up.

Generation 2: Around 1988, Glock revised the smash hit Model 17 and introduced the compact Model 19, which has now become the gold standard in concealed carry pistols. A slew of new calibers were added to the line in 1990 and '91, starting with the 10mm auto, .45ACP and the emerging .40S & W. The new generation introduced "grenade checkers" on the front and rear of the grip, which was held for almost 20 years. The model line branched out further with the 17L long slide model, which would be the basis for future competition models, and the first "C" series pistol to incorporate a compensation slide and barrel. Glock continues to improve small parts including the extractor, striker, striker block plunger and trigger link, and incrementally many pulls, culminating in a major warranty service upgrade in 1991 and '92 for old guns for the newest to get parts. The 2nd generation revision of the magazine has a full metal frame and has undergone some minor changes to the follower, base plate and spring over the years.

Glock Disassembly And Reassembly

Transition: In a strange case of hybrid features, some sub-compact models of 26 pistol from around 1995 to '96 can be found as a "generation 2.5" configuration with finger grooves that grenade checker usually lacks on the front band. At the same time, Glock introduced several other models in the "Generation 2.5" setup with no accessory rail but a textured finger groove, including the large bore models 20 and 21. this was standard on all advanced Glock models.

Maintaining Your Glock

Generation: From 1997 to 2010, the third generation Glock was the leading handgun owner in the United States. Combined with the sunset of the Clinton-era "Assault Weapons Ban" of 2004 and the popularity of practical shooting sports, concealed carry and home defense, the Glock was a hit. It was this generation that cemented the Glock 19's status as the standard pistol for many buyers, but Glock spent its time rapidly expanding its product line beyond its most popular models. Along with full production of the Glock 26 Sub-Compact, the company added a new .357 SIG cartridge available in all three of today's standard sizes: Full, Compact and Sub-Compact. In 1998 Glock introduced its first large-bore subcompact, the Glock 36 in .45ACP, and began competing models produced after the original 17L.

Two shields from the 3. All additional updates for small parts were rolled into the third gen pistol, as full metal magazines were installed right from the start, and a new hinged plastic bag is available with the pistol instead of the Tupperware box of the previous generation . Large bore pistols get a branch around 2006-2007 called the Short Frame, which reduces the trigger reach by reducing the back of the grip and reducing the famous grip hump. Both the full size 21 and the compact 30 will be available as SF models, the latter of which we have owned and carried for several years.

Transition to RTF: Before the official announcement of the fourth generation, Glock released several strange variants of the 3rd gen pistol with new experimental features. They released two versions of a new frame texture called the Rough Texture Frame, which is different from the roughness of the texture itself. RTF1 is a more aggressive treatment, while RTF2 will be more or less a Gen 4 grip texture for a year or so. Glock also introduced the infamous "fish gill" slide types, despised by Glock fans and haters alike, and this odd gun has become a collector's item.

Glock Disassembly Steps - The Glock 19 is one of America's most popular handguns, and with good reason. Reliable, accurate, and easy to maintain, it's the defender's gun of choice for everyone from snipers to special operators. But it needs to be cleaned and smoothed in a timely manner. We will show you how to clean a glock 19 in the following video and transcript.

Kevin: I'm here with Jeff Street. Jeff is the owner and head instructor of Graduate Gun Training, and is also a certified Glock gunsmith and a bit of a Glock fanatic. So Jeff, my first question for you is how often do people clean their glock 19? We hear a lot of different things about it. How did you see it?

Glock Disassembly Steps

Glock Disassembly Steps

Jeff: If you're new to the Glock platform, you really need to clean it every time you use it. To help convince you that anything can be seen and felt when it's right. That way, if something goes wrong on the track, you can fix it, maybe before you have a real problem on the beach.

How To Clean A Glock

Kevin: You'll know right away that the source doesn't have to be in two pieces. You don't need to see a piece of metal that has to break the world. It is obvious that it will be so.

Kevin: Now, if you're new to the gun, that's how often you clean it. What if you're a more skilled shooter? If you have two types, how often should you clean?

Jeff: Well, you haven't just taken two courses over the years. Well, I have friends who always clean their glocks all the time. It costs nothing to keep it clean. It's something you depend on, so why not clean it up a little once in a while?

Kevin: Well, Jeff. So when someone becomes a shooter and they want to go home and clean their glock 19, what should they do to unload it? We have one thing here to unload. We both checked. There's also a small barrel locked up there, so we know it's on display for sure. So let's walk through it.

Tested: Ruger Security 9 Vs Glock 19

Jeff: First, make sure there's no live ammo in the room, unless you have something here (your gun). You open the bag and glance at it before touching the gun to make sure the muzzle is in place. Then you have to pull out the magazine, if the magazine is there, then you push the magazine trigger, pull out the magazine, find out it's empty.

Jeff: Now when I go to touch a gun, I do it in my bathroom and I have a toilet in my bathroom. I have a bathroom even though I'm in a hotel room. I pulled the gun all the way without touching the trigger and pointed at the toilet bowl so that, if it left, the bullet would go into the water, where it would hit the porcelain; stay there He would break the toilet, which I don't want to do. I had to turn off the water tap to keep the house from flooding, and I had to call my plumber, so I was very emotional not to. Then I said it three times, and of course I put my finger in the well of magic to make sure there wasn't a magazine in there, which I just pulled out. I am tortured three times. That way, if I did it out of order and twisted it once, I'd see one round go off, but if I see another round come out, I probably haven't got the magazine out yet.

So after twisting it three times, I close my open lip. If you are someone with very short thumbs, you can turn your body, but keep your face in line with the toilet bowl. So you open it and close it, then you look back. No magazine, and you put your finger in the room to make sure there aren't any around, and you look through the magwell to see the light. You check both visually and tactilely to make sure the firearm is fully unloaded. Now I was shown the toilets still open. With the button, you have to pull the trigger to get it separately. I don't want to disassemble any bullets in the magazine. I'm going to move the slide forward and, pointing at the toilet bowl again, I'm going to pull the trigger. Then I have to release the tension on the spring and pull it back a bit. It's a little small and when you do, you feel it click. Then the bar has a version here. This is a slide release, and you will need to pull it both times. Then the slide will come. It is direct. Now I have a map and I have slides. In the fall, I will take the exit from the source and the barrel into exile. We now have basically four main parts that we are starting to clean up.

Glock Disassembly Steps

Jeff: We now have a gun separated into four main parts: breech, recoil, spring, barrel and frame. If you get a nylon brush, you'll also want to use a toothbrush (but don't use a toothbrush) and brush off as much of the carbon as possible. You just want to use a brush and a nylon brush. You don't want to use metal bristles because you'll scratch things and rip the gun inside. Do the same with the slide. Go well, and the barrel. Go ahead and click, download more.

If you have a really tough carbon buildup and want to get rid of it, I recommend something that doesn't smell like a clean breakthrough. A spray that is odorless and odorless that you can make at home. That would be lean for a while. Then you go with q-tips. Look around and you will find dirt. Do not leave large cotton swabs from a cotton swab inside the gun. Once you have that and you see the q-tips getting dirty here and you go through a few q-tips, do it nice and clean.

Now you need to assemble your gun and weapon and lubricate them, but before that you need to clean the inside of your barrel. What I recommend to you is the odious serpent. Like an ugly snake, it has a weight at the end, it has a thread and it has this fabric. It has a built-in bristle brush directly inside. Now it's metal, but it's a softer metal than your gun, so you won't scratch your gun. If you see a little coal in a feedlot here or there, you don't want to grab something sharp, hard metal and scratch it. All of these things have an end in them, and you don't want to lose that goal. When the barrel is out of the gun, I drop the weight into the barrel. I get by, and I get by a few times now. He takes it twice. If you want to check that out and see how good the snake repellent does, you can see how good the snake repellent does, you can put a regular old game in your barrel and see that it doesn't. is not very dirty. all after crossing your snake there.

Now you need your lube ball 19. I have a very fine needle and only use engine oil, but you can use your favorite lube tube and lube channels. In the barrel, you lubricate where you stick. Place a ring around the barrel here and walk over it. Then the hood frame slides just as well where it rubs the top of the barrel. Then I have to plug in the lube, which needs to be removed here, and I put a little drip in safe.

Go forward and join the gun. Put the barrel back, we scare the spring and we want to put the cut. He has only to walk on these two rails. Some people think they start here, but here you start with railings.
